The original plan was to play the Hong Kong Masters, then after a day at home to reset work jet to Hungary for the Szeged Masters.

The Szeged masters ended up being canceled after we had booked a flight from Budapest to Copenhagen.

I ended up discovering that we could fly into Geneva which is only about 90 minutes from Morgex. Its not far but the Mont Blanc Tunnel slows things down.

By renting our car out of Geneva we could return there and fly to Budapest to catch our flight to Copenhagen.

My friend Luz and her Companion also joined us on this leg of the trip!

Mice on a Plane!

We had three complete days planned for Aosta. It didn’t work out that way.

Luz and Paul had flown Ottawa to Montreal. Myself and Kristin were flying from Toronto to Montreal and on the same plane onwards to Geneva.

In Montreal we had to disembark where we met with Luz and Paul at the gate. From there, things went sideways.

Our flight was originally going to be delayed by 90 minutes. Then three hours, then at 2:30am we were told the flight was canceled and we were rebooked the next day.

Waiting for our flight at YUL. At least the Raptors were on and the bar stayed open!

Problems abound. It was Grand Prix weekend in Montreal; we were only able to get a room at the Fairmont downtown for close to $700 for the night. It took them an hour to check us in. We arrived at our rooms at 430am.

The Fairmont provided exceptionally pathetic front desk service, telling us there was no restroom for example (there is one upstairs).

In talking with Air Canada upon waking up, confirming our new details, we were told the flight was canceled due to Mice on the plane.

Europe. Finally.

A day late, we arrived in Geneva, a quirky airport as it straddles the French and Swiss borders. there are also car rental agencies on both sides of that “Border” so ensure that you go to the correct one.

Heading towards Italy driving through France, from Geneva. Mont Blanc in the Distance

As always it was great to meet our friend and Host Diego at La Maison de Lise in Morgex.

Given we had lost a day, we headed right outside to get a hike in and headed towards Val Ferret

Day two, our second and last compete day we were to do our favourite Via in Rhemes Notre Dame.

We went there and upon arrival I realized that I had forgotten my harness. Ugh.

It worked out okay though as there was an adjacent hike that took us up towards a gorgeous peak, the Col Fenetre. All was not lost!

We went as far as we could; any more elevation and we were into ice.

Two days is never enough in Morgex. Too many valleys to explore, too much good food to experience.

From here, Paul and Luz headed to the coast; myself and Kristin had one of those strange travel days. Drive out of Italy, through France to Switzerland. Flew to Budapest, to catch our flight to Copenhagen!

Church in Morgex…
