With the abandonment of the Alta Via 2, we had a few days to kill before we headed to Milan to catch our flight back to Toronto.

Over lunch as it poured rain, we looked at our maps, looked up some hiking options and found that a town named Riva Del Garda.

In between Venice and Milan it was not far from us, accessible by train and bus and had two Via Ferrata close to the city center.

Easy to access, nice warm weather, we booked a hotel in Riva, knowing absolutely nothing about it except that the weather was going to be better!

Riva turned out to be one of the most amazing places we have ever been.

Kristin had booked us into a lakeside hotel and upon arrival we were able to upgrade to a lake view room.

As of our travels to date it is our best hotel room ever!

The hotel: Hotel Sole Relax and Panorama. Our room was 104; facing the lake, over the promenade and with a large balcony!

After walking about for a day, we spent our second day doing the Via Ferrata Fausto Susatti – Cima Capi loop.
