Another trip to Maui but it was kind of different from previous trips.
No side trip; no other islands.
Maui and in particular Lahaina are still under duress due to the fire that basically wiped most of Lahaina off the face of the earth.
The conference hotel had a substantial number of people affected by the fire staying within.
My favourite tennis club did not renew their lease as the hotel had been taken over by FEMA. That being said, due to a recurring calf issue, I would not have been able to play anyway. Ugh.
However, Maui is Maui, it’s beautiful and has a vibe that is hard to replicate. The services and familiarity of the USA but the culture and vibe of Hawaii.
Of note, not a bad place to wait for your flight is the Ocean Organic Farm and Distillery. Great view, excellent food, superb drinks; a few minutes from the airport!
