Every other year Kristin has a conference in Maui. Given she doesn’t like to travel alone, I tag along.
While she was in lecture in the morning I ran to the Royal Lahaina Tennis Ranch and alternated between great clinics and playing tennis with the locals.
While this is our third trip we had never driven to the top of the Volcano. Given the time difference we were up really early; missed sunrise (you need a reservation to summit ) but drove to the top given it was a cool clear morning.
A great afternoon was spent at Merrimans in Kapalua. Go for Happy Hour for excellent drinks, amazing food, as you watch whales breach nearby in the ocean.
After five days on Maui, it was off to the Big Island (Hawaii) for a couple days.
After a late afternoon flight, Kristin had booked us on an excursion with Big Island Divers for a night snorkel trip to watch manta rays.
Photos and videos turned out well; hard to describe this; but it was incredible and definitely worth it if one is on the Big Island.
We only had one complete day on the Island and we used that to drive around a large portion of the Island.
A side trip on the way home, we drove to the top of Mauna Kea, the tallest mountain in the world as measured from the earths crust.
Also took us into some snow!
Of course a couple plane photos!
